About Me

I have 20+ years of legal experience to assist you. In my estate planning practice, my goal is to work closely with my clients to consider alternatives for, to think through and to set up legally effective arrangements to carry out their wishes while minimizing potential taxes and fees. And also as an attorney working in the relatively new field of Elder Law, I am qualified to help families make sound decisions regarding incapacity, long term care and issues involving Medicaid and Medicare Law. I look forward to assisting you and your loved ones with any tax and estate planning issues you may have.

Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, I attended Michigan State University and earned a Bachelors of Science degree. I received my Juris Doctorate degree from the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University and studied for a Masters of Law in Tax at Wayne State University.

In 1988 I became a Florida resident and established my legal practice. I am a member of the American Bar Association, Florida Bar Association and Michigan Bar Association. In 1999 I was selected to participate in Sarasota County Legal Services Network by the AARP. In addition, I have been an active participant in a number of professional associations including the Southwest Florida Estate Planning Council, The Sarasota Planned Giving Council and the National and Florida Academies of Elder law Attorneys.

My Interest in Alzheimer's Research

Aside from my law practice, I enjoy directing my community service efforts towards promoting public awareness of the problems and issues associated with Alzheimer’s disease. For over a decade, I have been active in Alzheimer’s issues. My focus is currently on Alzheimer’s Research. Senate President John McKay appointed me to the Board of Directors of the State funded Byrd Alzheimer's Institute in 2003 and on August 26, 2006, Governor Bush reappointed me to the Board. I am honored to be currently serving on the Board of the Gulf Coast Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
